Daily Deviation

Given 2013-05-09
Excellently timed, Cleaning Up is an epic shot of an insect, especially with how ~AustinGreene has executed the piece by capturing the front of the insect and framing it in such a way that this photograph is brilliantly composed. ( Suggested by mintyy and Featured by 3wyl )

Insects are so strange. I just realized, all the hairs all over the fly look like eyelashes. :o Now random comment (like the note about the eyelashes wasn't): I like how you got a shot of the proboscis. I don't think I've ever gotten a good look at one. :)

I also like the angle on this shot. Like your DD's comment says, it's brilliantly composed! :D The natural color scheme makes up a lot of this photo's aesthetics, too.

Thats one of the things I love about a good fly every now and then, they can be so hairy and cute! The mouthparts can be especially interesting, like you noted :)

I was actually surprised this image got a DD, I personally would have picked a different one of my shots, but seems to be how it always goes, everyone has different tastes! Thanks for the kind words :)

It was taken with a 50mm f/1.8 on 49mm of extension tubes, along with a whole lot of patience :P

Thank you! It was very spur of the moment. I was sitting on a deck and happened to have my camera. The fly landed and I snapped the shot just before it flew off.
